New survey ranks Fremont, California #1in 2022 Happiest Cities In America
Comparing 182 of the most populated cities around the United States, personal finance company WalletHub compiled a survey that determined the 2022 happiest cities in America. According to this survey, we are able to influence how happy we are by where we choose to live.
The cities were split into three separate categories—Emotional and Physical Well Being, Income and Employment, and Community and Environment. The WalletHub survey evaluated these categories while using indicators and metrics such as job satisfaction, time spent working, weather, access to sports, sleep health, and physical health.
Sitting at the top of the 2022 Happiest Cities of America list is Fremont, California, scoring 77.13 out of 100 with a #1 rank in Emotional and Physical Well Being and a #2 rank in Community and Environment. There seemed to be a trend that followed this list with many of the leading cities lining up alongside the West Coast. California led the WalletHub survey with six cities within the top ten of the 2022 Happiest Cities In America. Even Washington made a spot at #7 with Seattle.
“Location plays a hand in how bright or gloomy our days are,” writes WalletHub. “For years, researchers have studied the science of happiness and found that its key ingredients include a positive mental state, healthy body, strong social connections, job satisfaction and financial well-being.”
Amongst other 2022 Happiest Cities In America included San Francisco (71.15), San Jose (71), Irvine (70.38), Huntington Beach (66.43), and San Diego (65.82). Surprisingly not on the West Coast was Columbia, Maryland which ended up ranking #2 overall with a score of 71.64 and #3 in Emotional & Physical Well Being.
At the bottom of the list at #182 lies Detroit, Michigan with an overall score of 32.31. Check out the full chart on the WalletHub survey website.
