Aiming to help depression and anxiety, Wondermind is a new Selena Gomez mental health platform. Along with her mother Mandy Teefey and friend and CEO of Newsette, Daniella Pierson, Selena Gomez announced the creation of a new platform dedicated to mental wellness.
Gomez first revealed that she was suffering from anxiety and depression in 2016 after the singer and actress was diagnosed with Lupus between 2012 and 2014. In her early twenties, Gomez began therapy and spent time in treatment facilities.
When she hit 100 million Instagram followers, it shook her due to the negative and harsh comments that would appear. She then announced a hiatus to focus on her mental and physical health after a kidney transplant.
Candid about her anxiety and depression battles, Gomez then disclosed she had bipolar disorder in April 2020. Fast forward to the present day, the Selena Gomez mental health platform Wondermind came about..
Wondermind is the newly developed environment where a supportive community may come together and aid those who are suffering from depression or anxiety by having open and honest conversations with each other. Gomez built the new platform using the tools that have helped her survive, as well as support from mental health experts.
The Selena Gomez mental health platform Wondermind stakes its future on three fundamental pillars. The first is practice, the second is journaling, and the third is conversation. In a message on the Wondermind website, the women said, “We’ve each had our own mental health struggles, and we realized there was no inclusive, fun, and easy place where people could come together to explore, discuss, and navigate their feelings. So we created it. Welcome to Wondermind.”
