A new year, a new Panera Bread Charged Lemonade lawsuit

Following the unfortunate death of a University of Pennsylvania student last October, another Panera Bread Charged Lemonade lawsuit was filed this month after a Rhode Island woman suffered “permanent cardiac injuries”. The woman was admitted to the emergency room after drinking two and a half Charged Lemonades.

The woman reportedly did not have any underlying health conditions and even lived an athletic lifestyle. This Panera Bread Charged Lemonade lawsuit comes after the most recent one that was filed in December when a 46 year old man suffered a fatal cardiac arrest after drinking three charged lemonades at his local Panera Bread.

In addition to having a developmental delay, a moderate intellectual handicap, and an unidentified chromosomal deficiency illness, the man’s family claims he shunned energy drinks because they raised his blood pressure. The 30-ounce beverage that he drank was listed as having 390 mg of caffeine at the time. However, according to ABC News, Panera Bread is changing its menus and nutritional descriptions, with the drink now reportedly containing 237 mg of caffeine. This is because the prior listing failed to take into account the possibility of ice dilution.

Now how does this compare to other caffeinated drinks? We’ve provided a reference list here below:

  • Panera Charged Lemonade: 390 mg per size-large drink (30 oz)
  • Brewed black coffee: 96 mg per cup (8 oz)
  • Brewed decaf black coffee: 2 mg per cup (8 oz)
  • Brewed black tea: 47 mg per cup (8 oz)
  • Brewed green tea: 28 mg per cup (8 oz)
  • Coke: 34 mg per can (12 oz)
  • Diet Coke: 46 mg per can (12 oz)
  • CELSIUS Original: 200 mg per can (12 oz)
  • Monster Energy: 160 mg per can (16 oz)
  • Red Bull Energy Drink: 80 mg per can (12 oz)

As of now, it might be smart to hold back on a large cup of Panera’s lemonade energy drink, unless you’re in for another Panera Bread Charged Lemonade lawsuit.
